Keeping B and C Together

So far, there really hasn’t been much to memorise.

The two outside strings are both E, which makes them E-zy to remember.

That leaves only four open-string names to remember:

A, D, G, B

Now we can add one simple rule that is ALWAYS TRUE:

B and C are one fret apart.
E and F are one fret apart.

All the other natural note names are two frets apart.

For now, have a look at the map and notice how B and C always sit directly beside each other on the same string.

Next, we’ll come back to E and F and start using these simple rules to follow the note names up the fretboard.
