Which Notes Are Two Frets Apart? 

In the last two Light Lessons, we learned two relationships that are ALWAYS TRUE:

B and C are one fret apart.
E and F are one fret apart.

Now we can add the other half of the rule:

All the other neighbouring natural note names are two frets apart.

We already know that the two outside strings are both E, which makes them an easy place to see this pattern working.

Even better, the notes on those two outside strings are identical in both name and position.

So, starting with either open E string, we can follow the natural note names:

E, F, G, A, B, C, D, E

Notice that E and F sit together, and B and C sit together.

Every other neighbouring natural note is two frets away.

And here is the Ezy part:

You do not need to memorise the names of all those other note pairs separately.

You only need to remember:

B and C are one fret apart.
E and F are one fret apart.
Everything else is two frets apart.

That is much Ezy-er. 😄
